When GOD blesses our lives, HE expects you and me to be a blessing to others. One of the blessings GOD pronounced over Abram who later was called Abraham, was to be a blessing. Abram was blessed and called to be a blessing.
In the book of Genesis chapter 12 verses 1 to 3, the New Living Bible Translation records The Call of Abram, and it says “The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
The New King James Bible Translation records Promises to Abram, and it says “Now the LORD had said to Abram, “Get out of your country, from your family and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great, and you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Through the example of Abram, we learn that GOD blesses you and me for a reason and a purpose. HE wants you and me to be the vessels that HE uses HIS blessings to flow through and from our lives to other people, those HE has placed in our lives.
Abraham was destined to become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the Earth will blessed through him for a reason. As children of GOD, as born again Christians, we are blessed and called to be a blessing for a reason.
GOD blesses our lives so that we can be vessels of honor to HIM. So that we can be a blessing to HIS Kingdom here on Earth. GOD had a plan to have a Holy Nation through Abram and later through CHRIST, Holy Nation of People who HE would call HIS Own, and for the Glory of HIS NAME.
In the book of Genesis chapter 18 verses 17 to 19 Amplified Bible Translation records that “The LORD said, “Shall I keep secret from Abraham [My friend and servant] what I am going to do, since Abraham is destined to become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the Earth will be blessed through him? For I have known (chosen, acknowledged) him [as My own], so that he may teach and command his children and [the sons of] his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is righteous and just, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has promised him.”
In order to be a blessing you have got to be blessed, and that’s why HE told Abram, I will bless you and you shall be a blessing, in you and through you, other people will be blessed as well.
HE told Abram, I will bless those who bless you. And when your blessings start to showing, you will attract envy and wickedness; therefore, don't be afraid, those who will want to do you harm, I will deal with them. Just like Abraham, we also have the blessing of GOD’S protection over our lives. GOD will bless those who bless our lives and curse those who treat you and me with contempt.
We are blessed to be a blessing in all areas of our lives. In our relationships, we are called to be a blessing for the Glory of GOD. In our communities, we are called to be a blessing for HIS NAME sake. In our ministries, businesses, careers, we are called to be a blessing and representing HIM as HIS people because we belong to HIM and HIS Kingdom.
In the book of Galatians chapter 3 verse 29, it says “And now that you belong to CHRIST, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and GOD’S promise to Abraham belongs to you.”
We have got be willing to make a good difference in other people’s lives, and be a channel of blessings to others as GOD leads you and me daily through HIS HOLY SPIRIT. Because to be a blessing is part of our inheritance as children of Abraham, and as children of GOD through our LORD JESUS CHRIST.
