Usually it’s very easy to get something started, but the fact of the matter is that, the hardest part in accomplishing anything worthwhile is to persevere until the finish line of the end goal result.
In the Bible in the book of 2 Timothy chapter 4 verses 7 and 8, Apostle Paul said “I have done my best in the race, I have run the full distance, and I have kept the faith. And now there is waiting for me the victory prize of being put right with GOD, which the LORD, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day and not only to me, but to all those who wait with love for HIM to appear.”
The LORD JESUS, after He was crucified on the Cross, at His last breath, the only three words He uttered was “It Is Finished.” Though He was in great pain, and about to lose His last breath, what The LORD JESUS was looking forward to, was that He finished the debt of His crucifixion, as the Lamb of GOD Who was to be sacrificed or slain for the redemption of mankind through His blood shed by His death. Nothing else mattered at that moment for the fact that He paid in full the debt of sin required to purchase our freedom and released you and me from being slaves to sin and evil doing, and made sin to have no more power in our lives through Him.
People who had so much debt know how it feels after they have finished paying their debts. Even though it took some of them years of getting their finances together, saving money and managing their finances well, disciplining themselves and their spending so they can cut the costs of their expenses, but after they managed to pay their debt, they got so much relief to the point that what they went through to get to that accomplishment didn’t matter at all for the joy and relief they got to just to be able to accomplish and pay their debt.
It is the same thing when the woman is pregnant for nine years. During her pregnancy, in all different phases of her journey until her baby is born, that woman would go through changes and challenges because of what she is about to giving birth, and some of the changes during those nine months can be painful phases of the process. Even after going through labor pains to deliver her baby, the minute she holds her baby safely into her hands, nothing else matters anymore.
It’s important to finish what we started because as we all know that rewards are given at the end of the tournament, and not at the beginning. The rewards we are looking for in life are actualized at the end of the finish line. Therefore we need to continue to persevering. Winners finish all the way, till the end.
Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians Chapter 9 verses 20 to 27, “When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to CHRIST. When I was with those who follow the Jewish law, I too lived under that law. Even though I am not subject to the law, I did this so I could bring to CHRIST those who are under the law. When I am with the Gentiles who do not follow the Jewish law, I too live apart from that law so I can bring them to CHRIST. But I do not ignore the law of GOD; I obey the law of CHRIST. When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to CHRIST. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share in its blessings. Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win. All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.”
The LORD JESUS knew His assignments. The LORD JESUS knew what He came on earth to do. He also knew that it was very important He finished the work The FATHER had given Him to do. Just prior to His arrest by the Romans, the LORD JESUS prayed His last public prayer, asking The FATHER to glorify Him, just as He had glorified The FATHER on earth having “finished the work The FATHER have given Him to do.”
In the book of John chapter 17 verses 1 to 5, it records “After saying all these things, JESUS looked up to heaven and said, “FATHER, the hour has come. Glorify YOUR Son so He can give glory back to YOU. For YOU have given Him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one YOU have given Him. And this is the way to have eternal life, to know YOU, the only true GOD, and JESUS CHRIST, the One You sent to earth. I brought glory to YOU here on earth by completing the work YOU gave Me to do. Now, FATHER, bring Me into the glory We shared before the world began.”
One of the many assignments the LORD JESUS came to do was to “seek and save that which is lost.” In the book of Luke chapter 19 verses 9 to 10, it records that the LORD JESUS said to Zacchaeus, “Today Salvation has come to this house, because he is also a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
The LORD JESUS came to reveal and destroy the works of the devil. In the book of 1 John 3 verse 8, it says “The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son Of GOD appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.”

The LORD JESUS also came to provide atonement for the sins of all who would ever believe in Him, and to reconcile sinful men to Our HOLY GOD, Our HEAVENLY FATHER.
In the book of Romans chapter 3 verses 23 to 25, it records “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of GOD’S glorious standard. Yet GOD, in HIS Grace, freely makes you and me right in HIS sight. HE did this through CHRIST JESUS when HE freed you and me from the penalty for our sins. For GOD presented JESUS as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with GOD when they believe that JESUS sacrificed His life, shedding His blood. This sacrifice shows that GOD was being fair when HE held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past.”
In the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 5 verses 18 and 19, it says that “And all of this is a gift from GOD, WHO brought you and me back to Himself through CHRIST. And GOD has given you and me this task of reconciling people to HIM. For GOD was in CHRIST, reconciling the world to HIMSELF, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And HE gave you and me this wonderful message of reconciliation.”

It was very important for the LORD JESUS to finish His assignments all the way to the end, because He was GOD’S plan for our redemption.
There are so many benefits for you and me that depended on the LORD JESUS to accomplish all He came to do. Examples of some of the benefits include eternal life (John 3:16), forgiveness of sins (Ephesians 1:7), righteousness and deliverance from sin’s bondage (Galatians 5:1, Romans 6, Titus 2:14, 1 Peter 1:14to16), freedom from the curse of the law (Galatians 3:13), adoption into GOD’S family (Galatians 4:4to7), peace with GOD (Colossians 1:18to20), and the indwelling of the HOLY SPIRIT (1 Corinthians 6:19to20).
One thing about GOD’S awesomeness is that we don’t have to start, continue, and finish alone. We have The HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD. As we yield to HIM, HIS Direction and Help, HE leads you and me to victory.
In the book of John chapter 14 verse 16, The LORD JESUS said HE would send The HOLY SPIRIT to you and me to be our Helper, Comforter, and Guide. “And I will ask The FATHER, and HE will give you another Counselor to be with you forever”
The LORD JESUS gave you and me The HOLY SPIRIT so that we wouldn’t be alone and abandoned because He was going to The FATHER. HE gave you and me The HOLY SPIRIT to help our lives, and to perform the functions just as JESUS would have done if He had remained personally with you and me.
In John chapter 16 verses 13 and 14, the LORD JESUS told the disciples “But when He, The SPIRIT of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify Me because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you.” The HOLY SPIRIT Presence within you and me enables to understand and interpret GOD’S WORD, and making all things plain and clear to our lives. It is The HOLY SPIRIT Who reveals the truth and leads you and me in the way we should go in all spiritual things.
The HOLY SPIRIT also is the one who produce fruits in our lives. HIS indwelling in our lives will begin to produce HIS Fruit in our lives as it is recorded in Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 and 23, “But The HOLY SPIRIT produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things.” As you see, all these nine fruits are not the works of our flesh, which is incapable of producing such fruit, but they are products of The HOLY SPIRIT Presence in our lives.
When we have GOD helping our lives, we only need to stay in faith and do our best as we can on our part and yield to HIS direction, leading, and guidance. It’s pretty clear that GOD will always finish what HE started in our lives. We might as well seek HIM and rely for HIS help and strengths. HE will always complete what HE started in our lives. In the book of Philippians chapter 1 verse 6, it says “Being confident of this, that HE WHO began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of CHRIST JESUS.”
We need help from GOD to succeed, to advance, to breakthrough, and to move to the next level in our lives. Even though many times GOD can use our fellow human beings to help you and me, but HE is the true author of help, because if HE doesn’t put in the heart of people to help you, then you may not be helped as you should be. He can equip you with all the gifts, strength, knowledge, and resources you need to get ahead in life. HE can move people’s hearts to favor you, and everything concerning you. And sometimes that’s all it takes to advance in life, achieving your goals and godly assignments, to make good impact and differences in the lives of others as well.
All you need is GOD’S Presence and HIS favor and the willingness to obey and cooperate with HIM in your life for you to succeed. Scriptures say in Genesis chapter 39 verses 20 to 23 that “But while Joseph was there in the prison, The LORD was with him; HE showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because The LORD was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.”
It doesn’t matter where we are now, and how we started, all it matters is we finish all the way, and whether we do our best to finish well and strong, because there is finishing, and then there is finishing it well and strong.
We may be facing all kinds of things along the way in order to finish what we started, but if we decide to stay in faith and continue to pressing forward, GOD will help you and me finish well and strong in our godly destinies, and what HE has started in our lives, in our ministries, in our families, in our communities, in JESUS NAME.
How many stories and testimonies of people that we know whose lives changed from shame and end up into honor? Therefore, what we can also learn is that our mistakes, our failures, our poor choices, if we can surrender them to GOD, He will help turn them into our good.
We can achieve our godly assignments, purposes, and goals in smaller steps, by taking one step at a time towards the finish line, relying and trusting on GOD’S strengths, leading, and faithfulness, and keep doing our best along the way.
I pray that in our lives and our loved ones lives, by GOD’S Grace and HIS Will for our lives, we shall finish well and strong. We will finish our godly destines. We will accomplish our godly assignments. We will live long and healthy. We will bear the fruit of the HOLY SPIRIT in our lives and become mature Christians. Our blessings, ministries, and organizations that GOD has started in our lives, our businesses, charities, and careers, they will all flourish and prosper all the way and will live long, even to transfer to the generations to come. May the HOLY SPIRIT produces HIS Fruits in our lives, may HE guide our lives into truth. May HIS Presence give you and me godly success that really matters in Heaven and on Earth. IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME I pray.
