August 2022 Discover Your Purpose

GOD has plans and assignments for HIS people, some find out from very early on while they are really young, others in their adulthood. As far as I am concerned, even if it may take you longer to find and discover your true and GOD given purpose, it’s better than not knowing at all. If you ask me, real prosperity and success is when you can accomplish GOD'S Will and Purpose for your life.

One of the reasons most successful people have in common is they have discovered their purposes in life. They have figured out why they are here on planet Earth. They have discovered their callings and did what they were supposed to do to accomplishing what GOD has called them to do.

Once you know your purpose in life, it will give you direction and that steadiness that you need in life. When storms come in your life, your purpose will hold you steady and help you get focused, because you will have confidence based upon the knowledge you have concerning your purpose in life.

GOD is a purposeful GOD. For everything HE created and made has a purpose. As human beings, our bodies for instance; our hands, mouths, ears, I mean everything, all of our organs, they all have purposes and functions. As human beings and children of GOD, we do have purposes on this Earth.

The Bible records that before we were born into this Earth, GOD had plans and assignments for our lives. In the Book of Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 4 to 10, it says that GOD appointed Jeremiah to be a Prophet to the Nations before he was born. Scripture says, "The Word of the LORD came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a Prophet to the Nations.” “Alas, Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD. Then the LORD reached out HIS Hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put MY Words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over Nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."

As long as we have GOD'S Breath, we have purposes here on Earth for our lives, and it’s up for you and me to discover it. We can pray to the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD to reveal GOD’S plans and purposes HE predestined for our lives.

The Bible says the HOLY SPIRIT guides to all truth, and reveals what is to come. In the book of John chapter 16 verses 13 to 15, the LORD JESUS said that “But when HE, the Spirit of Truth, comes, HE will guide you into all the truth. HE will not speak on HIS own; HE will speak only what HE hears, and HE will tell you what is yet to come. HE will glorify ME because it is from ME that HE will receive what HE will make known to you. All that belongs to the FATHER is MINE. That is why I said the SPIRIT will receive from ME what HE will make known to you.”

In the book of Acts chapter 13 verse 2, it records that "One day as these men were worshiping the LORD and fasting, the HOLY SPIRIT said, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul for the special work to which I have called them.”

So we know we can pray to GOD to reveal truth and HIS plans for our lives. Now let's explore a few examples of the ways we can discover our purposes. I have listed five of those examples.

1. Through Our Passions

If you could spend your life doing one thing for example; what would it be? What do you really love doing? What is it that is moving you every day? Your passion could be something born inside you and you can’t help it but explore and do it.

For example; the passion of JESUS CHRIST was to do The Will of HIS FATHER, our HEAVENLY FATHER. In the book of John chapter 4 verses 31 to 36, it records that "Meanwhile, the disciples were urging JESUS, "Rabbi, eat something." But JESUS replied, "I have a kind of food you know nothing about." "Did someone bring HIM food while we were gone?" the disciples asked each other. Then JESUS explained: "MY nourishment comes from doing the Will of GOD, WHO sent ME, and from finishing HIS Work. You know the saying, 'Four months between planting and harvest.' But I say, wake up and look around. The fields are already ripe for harvest. The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life. What joy awaits both the planter and the harvester alike."

It might take a while for you to figure out your passion in life, or until you know you are passionate about something, but if you have one it’s easy to notice it. In the book of Psalm chapter 37 verse 4, it says "Delight yourself in the LORD, and HE will give you the desires of your heart." We can pray to GOD to reveal HIS desires that HE has put inside you and me. Though it’s a process, but its a well invested process.

2. Through Our Gifting and Uniqueness

I truly believe that every man is gifted with something. GOD is very generous. Everybody has a unique gifting deposited by GOD inside them. We can pray to GOD to reveal those gifts and ask HIM to activate them if they have become dormant. In the book of Proverbs chapter 18 verse 16, it says that "A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men." Your gift is your ticket to discover another World for you, and can create big opportunities for you. That’s why you have got to find and discover it.

Your talents, and the skills you have acquired, if you nurture them, all of these have the ability also to create big opportunities for you in life. GOD can lead you to learn, nourish, and acquire some of the talents and skills you need in life because HE has plans for you to use them in your life. But usually, it is your gift that is connected to your GOD'S calling and purpose. Your acquired talents and skills can get you a job, a career, but your GOD given gifts can get you to your destiny.

One of the examples is Daniel and his Friends. The Bible says in the book of Daniel chapter 1 verses 17 to 20, "To these four young men GOD gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. At the end of the time set by the king to bring them into his service, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king’s service. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters in his whole kingdom."

Another good example is Joseph. In the Bible in the book of Genesis chapter 41, it was because of Joseph’s gifting of interpreting dreams that led him to the palace to become in position of authority to help the entire land of Egypt and to save Israelites and Egyptians from the severe famine that was coming throughout the World during that time. I’m sure Joseph was able to do many things, through his life experiences. For instance in Genesis chapter 39, it records that Joseph acquired leadership skills working at Potiphar’s house. He also acquired skills as a political prisoner when he was put in charge in the prison where the king’s prisoners were kept. But when it came to his great destiny and purpose, it was his GOD given gift gave him the opportunity to get there.

In the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 12 verses 4 to 11, for example, it says "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same SPIRIT is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same LORD. GOD works in different ways, but it is the same GOD WHO does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. To one person the SPIRIT gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same SPIRIT gives a message of special knowledge. The same SPIRIT gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one SPIRIT gives the gift of healing. HE gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy. HE gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the SPIRIT of GOD or from another spirit. Still another person is given the ability to speak in unknown languages, while another is given the ability to interpret what is being said. It is the one and only SPIRIT WHO distributes all these gifts. HE alone decides which gift each person should have."

3. Through What We Hated, or Happened to Our Lives, or Our Struggles and Problems

Maybe you hated what happened to you when you were young. Maybe you hated how you grew up, perhaps you were mistreated. Nelson Mandela from South African Nation and Moses from the Bible, Israel Nation, are good examples of this. They both became great men of GOD used to accomplish HIS purposes over those Nations and the people. Both of them hated racism and slavery. This is what I have noticed; if it’s your GOD given purpose and destiny, then it’s yours. Even after 27 years of imprisonment, it didn’t stop Nelson Mandela to become the President of his Country. Just imagine how he survived his years in jail and imprisonment.

Moses also did not like the oppression of Israel People in Egypt. GOD used Moses and sent him back to Egypt where he grew up to demand the release of the Israelites from slavery. The Bible records in Exodus chapter 2 that Moses was adapted by Pharaoh’s daughter, the princess of the king of Egypt. But even though he was raised in the king’s palace as a prince, Moses hated to see how his own people being mistreated.

In the book of Exodus chapter 2 verses 11 to 15, it records that "In the course of time Moses grew up. Then he went to see his own people and watched them suffering under forced labor. He saw a Hebrew, one of his own people, being beaten by an Egyptian. He looked all around, and when he didn’t see anyone, he beat the Egyptian to death and hid the body in the sand. When Moses went there the next day, he saw two Hebrew men fighting. He asked the one who started the fight, "Why are you beating another Hebrew?" The man asked, "Who made you our ruler and judge? Are you going to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and thought that everyone knew what he had done. When Pharaoh heard what Moses had done, he tried to have him killed. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian."

Later on the angel of the LORD appeared to Moses, speaking to him from within a burning bush. It records in the book of Exodus chapter 3 verses 1 to 10, "Moses was taking care of the sheep of his father in law Jethro, the Priest of Midian. As he led the sheep to the far side of the desert, he came to Horeb, the mountain of GOD. The Messenger of the LORD appeared to him there as flames of fire coming out of a bush. Moses looked, and although the bush was on fire, it was not burning up. So he thought, "Why isn’t this bush burning up? I must go over there and see this strange sight." When the LORD saw that Moses had come over to see it, GOD called to him from the bush, "Moses, Moses" Moses answered, "Here I am." GOD said, "Don’t come any closer. Take off your sandals because this place where you are standing is holy ground. I am the GOD of your ancestors, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." Moses hid his face because he was afraid to look at GOD. The LORD said, "I have seen the misery of My people in Egypt, and I have heard them crying out because of the slave drivers. I know how much they’re suffering. I have come to rescue them from the power of the Egyptians and to bring them from that land to a good land with plenty of room for everyone. It is a land flowing with milk and honey where the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites live. I have heard the cry of the people of Israel. I have seen how the Egyptians are oppressing them. Now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh so that you can bring My people Israel out of Egypt."

For you it could be you were an orphan and you didn’t like how you were raised and the things you went through, now that you are older, you decide to start your own orphanage because you feel like GOD has blessed you and has spoken to you to help orphans because you know how they feel, and their struggles, because you have experienced what they are going through. Myself for example; there was a time GOD was speaking to me consistently that HE has so much in store for me, there is some greatness within me. Therefore, one of my visions became to live to my full potential. I realized that from that moment in my life I needed to start living to my full potential. I even have a podcast called "Live to Your Full Potential Podcast."

4. Through Heavenly Vision or Dream

GOD speaks to people through visions and dreams. And when you get that encounter with GOD, your entire life will change. One good example was how Apostle Paul encountered the LORD JESUS, this was after HE already ascended to Heaven. Apostle Paul was persecuting the followers of the LORD JESUS; this is when he was called Saul before his name changed to Paul.

In the book of Acts chapter 9 verses 1 to 16, it records that “Meanwhile, Saul was uttering threats with every breath and was eager to kill the LORD'S followers. So he went to the High Priest. He requested letters addressed to the synagogues in Damascus, asking for their cooperation in the arrest of any followers of the Way he found there. He wanted to bring them both men and women back to Jerusalem in chains. As he was approaching Damascus on this mission, a Light from Heaven suddenly shone down around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting ME?" "Who are YOU, LORD?" Saul asked. And the voice replied, “I am JESUS, the ONE you are persecuting. Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." The men with Saul stood speechless, for they heard the sound of someone’s voice but saw no one. Saul picked himself up off the ground, but when he opened his eyes he was blind. So his companions led him by the hand to Damascus. He remained there blind for three days and did not eat or drink. Now there was a believer in Damascus named Ananias. The LORD spoke to him in a vision, calling, "Ananias!" "Yes, LORD," he replied. The LORD said, "Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul. He is praying to ME right now. I have shown him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again." "But LORD," exclaimed Ananias, "I’ve heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers in Jerusalem. And he is authorized by the leading Priests to arrest everyone who calls upon YOUR NAME." But the LORD said, "Go, for Saul is MY chosen instrument to take MY message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel. And I will show him how much he must suffer for MY NAME'S sake."

Apostle Paul’s calling was a serious command from the LORD, there was no discussion. In verse 6, The LORD told him, "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." If you have noticed also the last sentence, it records Ananias said the LORD said "And I will show him how much he must suffer for MY NAME'S sake." Now, it doesn’t mean the LORD didn’t forgive him or loved him; in fact the New Testament is filled with Apostle Paul letters and books. You can’t read the New Testament Bible, and miss Apostle Paul writings. He even said in the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 10 that "But by the Grace of GOD I am what I am, and HIS Grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them, yet not I, but the Grace of GOD that was with me."

I know this is far outside the topic, but what also we can learn through this passage is that don’t persecute the followers of the LORD JESUS because when you persecute them, you are persecuting HIM. Another thing we learn is that don’t ever think after you have made so many mistakes GOD cannot forgive you and use you. It’s not always the case.

5. Through The Word of GOD

If you are Christian for instance, first of all, in order to know GOD'S Sovereign Will and Moral Will, and to know HIM, you have got to read the Bible. As you continue to spend time to knowing GOD, reading the Word of GOD, as you do that GOD can speak to you and reveal things concerning your life and your purpose through HIS promises, and Will.

There are so many things to know about ourselves and how to deal with our situations. We can get most of the answers we need through the Word of GOD. We need to know what GOD says concerning our lives.

In the Bible it says GOD'S Word brings Light to our circumstances, situations, and our lives. In the book of Psalm chapter 119 verse 130, it says, "The entrance of Thy Words giveth Light; it giveth understanding unto the simple." Another translation says, "The revelation of Your Words brings Light and gives understanding to the inexperienced."

One thing I have learned is that being born again Christian was my access to the discovery of my purpose and destiny. Once I accepted the LORD JESUS CHRIST in my life, and received HIS HOLY SPIRIT, things began to change for me. I was not the same person anymore. My priorities changed, my outlook on life changed, and et cetera.

The blessings and promises of GOD are concealed in The Word of GOD. So as we read, learn, and study the Word of GOD, which is found in the Bible, we will discover what belongs to you and me. The answers we are looking concerning our lives today, they are found in the Bible, and also in spending quality time with the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD in prayer, and in reading the Word of GOD.

That’s about it, five examples you can discover your purpose and live a purposely driven life.

May GOD reveal HIS plans for our lives. From now on we shall discover our godly assignments, and purposes. There shall be no more delays. We shall fulfil our godly destinies. I pray in the Mighty NAME of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
