This month we are reminded of the importance of thanksgiving and that we need to be grateful in all areas of our lives; in our relationships, ministries, businesses, careers, relationships, health, financially, and so on.
The Bible says in everything that happens we are to give thanks. In the book of 1 Thessalonians 5:18, it records, “In everything give thanks. This is what GOD wants you to do because of CHRIST JESUS.” Another translation says "In every thing give thanks: for this is the Will Of GOD in CHRIST JESUS concerning you."
Meaning that when everything is going well, we are going to be thankful. If we have lost something, or some things didn’t go our way or according to our plans, we are going to be thankful. We always have something to be grateful for. If it wasn’t for GOD, His Grace, Love, and Mercy, may be the situations could have been worse.
There is this saying “If you complain you will remain.” Complaining can complicate the situations and circumstances, or make things worse. But when we are grateful, that mental and internal state of gratefulness, will not allow unfavorable circumstances and situations to determine our moods, emotions, even our focus on things.
If we learn to be thankful and make it as part of our lifestyle, our situations may turn around and change, because being able to be grateful can help you and me change our perspectives from hopelessness to being hopeful, and to respond to our situations with faith. In Hebrews 11 verse 6, it says GOD is pleased and moved by our faith. The Scripture says "And without faith it is impossible to please GOD, because anyone who comes to HIM must believe that HE exists and that HE rewards those who earnestly seek HIM." Usually our faith can be seen through our thanksgiving.
Another thing that can help you and me to learn to be grateful is to practicing the Word Of GOD. The LORD JESUS said we should practice HIS Word and keep His instructions so that we can keep doing those things that align with the Word Of GOD. He said in Matthew 7 verse 24 that "Everyone who hears HIS Words and does them will be like a wise man built his house on the rock."
We should continually practice mixing our faith with the Word Of GOD to be able to overcome and resist the temptations to complain. Practicing the Word Of GOD will equip you and me to refuse to give in to the negative situations that bring discouragement.
GOD is always Good, no matter what is going on in our lives. He promised in Romans 8 verse 28, for those who love Him, to turn everything that was meant for our harm to our good.
Everyday we are being given opportunities to give thanks and praise to GOD, because life is a gift, therefore we need to be grateful for it. We have to surrender our doubts and fears, and trust GOD and HIS goodness.
May we receive the grace of GOD to be full of thanksgiving and enjoy to give HIM praise. May the HOLY SPIRIT Of GOD, help you and me to practice the Word Of GOD and implementing it into our daily lives with ease. In JESUS Name.
