Let’s read the Tower of Babel Bible passage in the book of Genesis chapter 11 from verses 1 to 9. Reading from the New International Bible version it records that “Now the whole World had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the Heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole Earth.” But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the LORD scattered them from there over all the Earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the LORD confused the language of the whole World. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole Earth.”
From this Tower of Babel Bible passage we learn these four concepts that if we can understand them; they may help with our journeys in this life, to cope with life in all life aspects and areas.
Work in Unity
We see from this passage a people, who had one language and a common speech. They had unity and oneness. They gathered themselves together and decided they were going to build themselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the Heavens so that they can make a name for themselves. And as they were building, the LORD came down to see the city and the tower they were building. He was not pleased of what they were planning to do, it wasn't HIS Will for their lives. GOD can see what’s ahead than we can, and therefore He caused disunity among them by confusing their language. They had one language and one speech, therefore the LORD confused their language so they will not understand each other. In order for the LORD to stop their plans, we learn that He caused disunity among them. It was a tactic that He used to stop them doing what they were doing. GOD knew what they were building was going to lead to rebelliousness against Him. They had wrong intentions and motives; they just wanted to make a name for themselves. The Bible says that these people wanted to build a city with a tower that reaches to the Heavens, so that they can make a name for themselves. But it also looks like since from beginning, the LORD had a different and better plan for Himself and His people. The Bible Passage says "He scattered them over the face of the whole Earth."
Therefore we can see from the story of the Tower of Babel, there is power in unity.
Even though they had wrong intentions and motives, but these people knew the power of unity and oneness. Even the Bible records The LORD saying, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
In order to succeed and remain strong, and have a good team work in our families, ministries, businesses, and marriages for instance, we need to have unity and oneness.
We need oneness to succeed. Even if you are on your own, when it comes to fulfilling GOD’S plans for your life, your mind has to become one with those plans. That is what faith is, to have confidence in what we hope for, or on the things and plans we hope for. When we doubt, we disconnect and disunite our minds from the things we hope for. Our minds or mindsets have to align with GOD plans for our lives so that we can live and fulfill our godly destinies and assignments.
Imagine Big
Let’s see another Bible version what it says about the Tower of Babel story. In King James Bible version, it records that “And the whole Earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto Heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole Earth. And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the Earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the Earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the Earth.”
In this Bible version, it has translated the story a little bit different, it records that “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”
There is power in your imagination. What we imagine may come to pass. The images we hold in our minds can come to reality. Therefore we have to intentionally imagine the things we look forward to manifest in our lives. The images we visualize and the thoughts we think are important. And they go together because, the images we visualize and hold in our minds, many times they will be accompanied with the thoughts we think. They go together like that, even what we think are part of our imaginations.
We have got to visualize the right pictures and images and stories in our imaginations. We have to see ourselves succeed, marching and moving forward, winning and rising higher, becoming healthy and happy, and we are heading to bright future. The things we imagine, they can drive and move you and me to achieving them. Our imagination is very powerful. And the best part is that if they align with GOD'S Will, Plans, and Purposes for our lives, then nothing will be restrained from you and me which we imagine to do. Therefore, we need to be intentional on the images we are painting in our minds concerning our lives in our health, relationships, finances, businesses, ministries, and so forth.

Choose To Respond In Faith
One of my favorite Bible scriptures is Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5 and 6, and it says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” I have learned a lot about faith through this Scripture and with my own life experiences. Sometimes you don’t need to understand everything in detailed what GOD says to do and not to do to start trusting Him and cast your care to GOD. If the LORD said it, just trust it, and simply say, “Let Your Will be done GOD.” Isn’t the LORD Who was recorded saying in Isaiah chapter 48 verse 17 “This is what the LORD says, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your GOD, Who teaches you what is best for you, Who directs you in the way you should go?” GOD knows what’s best for our lives.
But let’s learn also from the Tower of Babel story, why we need to choose to respond in faith, and act towards our faith in spite of our fears. In this Bible passage, we see these people faith and at the same time their fears. They had unity, they imagined big, and were determined to build a city and a tower up to Heaven so they can make name for themselves, I mean, that is what it looks like their agenda was, to make names for themselves, that was their main concern. They didn’t have a purpose for common and greater good; they wanted to be famous for building a city and a tower. So we can see their faith; they wanted to build something for themselves, and they acted toward their faith. But on the other hand, they also had their fears. And the Bible passage records that they didn’t want to be scattered over the face of the whole Earth.
Unfortunately what they feared also is what happened to them. They took action in spite of what they feared, but it looks like the fear was also stronger just like their faith, to cause what they feared to come to reality. And so the Bible records that “The LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the LORD confused the language of the whole World. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole Earth.”
We see this also mentioned in the book of Job chapter 3 verse 25 “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.”
We learn the importance of having the right mindsets and right believing. We cannot be thinking of failure all the time and expect to have good success. If we keep thinking things will not work, they may end up not working for us. We need to stay positive and keep on trusting in GOD and what He has promised, regardless of the discouragement we may face and encounter.
I heard from this Pastor saying that some people fear things that they don’t even exist. One of the secrets to overcoming our fears is to choose to respond to our situations in faith. When we apply faith, the imaginary mountains and obstacles that we fear even before they exist they will vanish. With faith we can remove our mountains and obstacles even after they have already existed. If we hang on and continue to believe all things are possible, the mountains and obstacles we are facing today they can be moved and disappear for our good. So we need to choose faith because it is the antidote of fear.

Take Action
The fourth thing we learn is that action always speaks louder. The LORD wouldn’t have come down to see what they were doing if they didn’t start building it. When the LORD came, He found them building, there were in action mode; they were taking actions toward their plans, visions, and goals. From the Bible passage it says, “But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.”
Their ideas didn’t remain on their imaginations, or notebooks. They took action, and acted toward them. “They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.”
They gathered themselves together in unity, they imagined and got clear pictures of their visions, they wrote and put their plans in details, and they took action towards achieving them and start implement things. Even if GOD will drop the manna from Heaven, we still have got to collect it.
