In the book of Matthew chapter 4 verse 4, The LORD JESUS said “People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of GOD.” It was during when HE was fasting for forty days and forty nights, satan came to test JESUS with a temptation saying “If HE is the Son of GOD, HE should tell the stones to become loaves of bread.” Satan knew since JESUS was fasting, HE was hungry and perhaps very weak in the body, and therefore tempted HIM to break the fast so that JESUS would fail to pass the test on what HE went to the wilderness for. One of the reasons HE was fasting and praying, was to prepare for HIS Ministry because after the LORD JESUS won the test in the wilderness, the Bible records when HE left there, the LORD JESUS started HIS Ministry. We see that even though the LORD JESUS was hungry and weak physically, but in the SPIRIT realm, HE was very strong. HE was able to resist all the temptations satan tried to temp HIM. HE replied and quoted the Scriptures of what is written concerning each temptation each time.
The LORD JESUS said in the book of John chapter 4 verse 24 that “GOD is SPIRIT, and those who worship HIM must worship in Spirit and Truth.” So that should be an eye opener to you and me. GOD is SPIRIT and those who worship HIM must do it in Spirit, and Truth.
Do you know that when we speak, it is our spirits that speak, and not our bodies? In fact the LORD JESUS said in the book of John chapter 6 verse 63 “The Spirit is the One who gives life. The flesh doesn’t help at all. The words that HE has spoken to you and me are Spirit and are Life.” In other words, we can say that even the words we speak are spirit and can give life to something.
Sometimes the words we speak can work as seeds in the spiritual realm to manifest things in the physical realm. It is the spiritual world that creates the physical world. Just because you don’t see them in the natural or physical world yet, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Just because you don’t see heaven, it doesn’t mean heaven doesn’t exist. Just because you don’t see the baby in the pregnant mother in her first trimester for instance, it doesn’t mean the baby does not exist.
It also looks like almost everything starts being formed in a thought form from what we think, or word form from what we speak, before we start acting on those thoughts and words, to make things manifest in the physical form. Usually we will do the things we think about all the time. We also speak and do things that are constantly on our hearts, our thinking or our minds.
The Bible says in the book of Genesis chapter 1 that GOD spoke, and eventually things manifested. And only GOD knows the mystery of how long exactly it took for things to manifest, and how HE made them manifested.
I heard this Pastor saying that, fear is a spirit; poverty is a spirit; fornication is a spirit; lying is a spirit; death is a spirit; evil is a spirit; the devil or also known as the enemy of GOD is a spirit, racism is a spirit, rebellion is a spirit, witchcraft is a spirit; and so as all kinds of other spirits. This Pastor said if you see someone is behaving certain way, you need to rebuke the spirit and power behind it that is causing and influencing someone to behave that way, and not the person. Because the fight goes beyond the physical realm; you have to start from the root, in the spiritual realm. Meaning that, by the time it appears in the physical realm, it already existed in the spiritual realm.
In the book of Ephesian chapter 6 verses 10 to 18, Apostle Paul said, “Finally, be strong in the LORD and in HIS Mighty Power. Put on the full armor of GOD, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of GOD, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of Salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of GOD. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
Apostle Paul said since our real struggles and battles are rooted in the spiritual realm therefore we need to put on the full armor of GOD. And he mentioned that what we are going to need and to implement in order to win, are different from what we have been known to use to fight with in the World. We need to study, meditate, and know what the WORD of GOD says. The WORD of GOD is the Helmet of GOD Salvation to protect our heads, our thinking, our mindsets, our motives, to protect you and me from deception, because it reveals the truth about GOD and our situations. But also the WORD of GOD is the Sword of the SPIRIT. When we speak, think, and live based on Scriptures, and declare the truth of the WORD of GOD to our lives and our situations, the WORD of GOD works as a Sword of the SPIRIT. In Matthew 4 chapter 4, The LORD JESUS replied to the enemy with Scripture, or the Word of GOD, and said it is written. That’s why we need to read the Bible so that when these temptations come whether in a thought form, or through another person, we have a Scripture that contains the truth, the belt that we need to buckle around our waist, to reply to that situation as it comes.
Not only that we need to take the shield, which is faith and use it to extinguish all the arrows from the evil one. No matter how long the battle or struggle, with unwavering faith we overcome. And then we need to pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests because when we pray we ask for heaven to intervene, we ask for the extra help from on high. We need to fully prepare and stay ready to share the Gospel of Peace.
The LORD JESUS through HIS HOLY SPIRIT is our breastplate of Righteousness. We receive righteousness of GOD, through our LORD JESUS CHRST, and we are made righteous through our faith in GOD.
As you can see, in order to win these battles that we may be facing in our everyday life as Christians we need to spend quality time with GOD. For you and me to live a real Christian life, we have to consciously walk with GOD just like when we are cultivating any other relationship in our lives such as our relationships with our children, parents, siblings, friends, and so on. Just like our bodies need food, water, vitamins, and so on, it is not just about going to Church and Bible study once a week, but reading the Bible daily, spending time in praise and worship, pray daily and in all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests, listening to Bible teachings and programs on regular basis, but also serve GOD with our time and substances. When we do that we make our spirits consciously alive with GOD. What we frequently give attention to, usually will expand and we will eventually start desiring it to a point it becomes a habit to you and me.
We all have 24 hours a day. And we are all busy, but some choose to be busy with what that matters in their lives. If food matters in your life, you will make time to eat it. The same thing with spending quality time with GOD on regularly basis. We can choose to reserve time every day to get to know our GOD, our Creator, and our Savior. We can start small, thirty minutes a day is much better than not spending time at all. And the good thing is that spending quality time with GOD is for our own good and benefit. All GOD has to benefit is to have you and me, HIS children back into HIS arms again.
